Mindful Rituals for Busy Women Building Businesses & Lives
Sacred rituals don’t require perfection, just your intention. Let me show you how to create yours.
Hey visionary!
I'm writing to you from my dining table this morning, where my "perfect" morning routine just got delightfully derailed by a toddler who decided 5 AM was the ideal time to wake up with nothing to do but be loud. And you know what? It got me thinking about rituals, routines, and the beautiful mess of life as a creative entrepreneur, freelancer, solopreneur, or service-provider...
I honestly used to believe that the most successful business owners had these pristine, magazine-worthy morning routines that we all wish we could adopt successfully... You know the ones: meditation at sunrise, green juice in hand, journal pages filled with profound insights before the rest of the world wakes up. But let me just share something real with you...
I think that the most powerful rituals aren't necessarily the perfect ones – they're the ones that actually work for your real life, the ones that you actually do.
Towards the middle of last week, one of my OBM clients confessed to me that she felt guilty of not having a "proper" daily work routine like all the business gurus recommend. She's a night owl at heart who does her best work after 8 PM, yet she was forcing herself to wake up at 5 AM everyday because she thought that's what successful entrepreneurs do. Friend of mine, if this sounds familiar, then this email is especially for you...
Here's what I've learned about rituals in my journey of balancing motherhood, marriage, and managing multiple client businesses on a daily basis: rituals aren't about perfection – they're about creating anchors of intention within your day.
Let me share how I've reimagined rituals for the real world of a service provider:
Instead of an hour-long morning meditation (beautiful, but rarely realistic), I have what I call my "Power Pause" – three deep breaths and a moment of gratitude while my coffee brews. I then take a few minutes to ground myself and align with the energies of my intentions. It's a very simple practice, but it centers me before diving into client work.
My "CEO time" doesn't happen at a perfectly scheduled hour every day. Instead, I grab these precious moments during my kids' afternoon quiet time, when I review my business goals and adjust my course as needed. Sometimes it's only 30 minutes, sometimes it's an hour – and yes, sometimes it gets interrupted by a toddler needing a snack. That's okay.

One of my favorite rituals happens right before I open ClickUp for the day: I light the small blue candle on my desk (battery-operated, because #momlife), set an intention for how I want to show up for myself and for my clients, and then I begin... This tiny act transforms my work from a to-do list into a sacred service.
Here's the truth I want you to embrace: your rituals don't need to look like anyone else's. They just need to work for YOU.
Take another one of my clients, a website designer who struggled with traditional working routines. We worked together to create what she calls her "design ritual" – she starts each day by brewing her favorite tea, playing specific mood music, and spending 10 minutes scanning her inspiration board on Pinterest. This very simple sequence signals to her brain that it's time to create, and she's seen her productivity and creativity soar since implementing this little practice.
Action Item: Your Turn to Create Sacred Space
Consider this: What moments in your business day could use a touch of intention? Where could a small ritual create a powerful shift?
Maybe it's:
✅ A closing ritual to officially end your workday
✅ A centering practice before taking client calls
✅ A celebration routine for when you reach a goal
✅ Or a reset ritual for when things don't go as planned (!!!)
Remember that the magic isn't in the complexity of the ritual – it's in the consistency and meaning you give it.
Soon, I intend to share how I've created systems to support rituals like these in my day (because yes, even your sacred practices can benefit from good operations). But for now, I'd love to hear from you: what small ritual could you commit to this week?
We're both better equipped to do more, and in a better way, when we operate from a place of alignment.
